My Role: User Research Lead

No Pressure is a smart care mattress designed specifically for patients in the early stages of bedridden care at home. It continuously monitors body pressure and dynamically adjusts support for specific body areas to maintain a safe posture, reduce localized pressure, and prevent pressure ulcers.

Process

Pain Point

Every year, over 2.5 million people suffer from pressure ulcers in the U.S. alone. While hospitals are equipped with professional beds and trained nurses, most early- stage bedridden patients are cared by family members at home. Without proper tools, repositioning must be done manually, and thus causing exhaustion, back pain, and anxiety for over 63 million family caregivers. One missed turn can lead to a painful, irreversible pressure ulcers, turning daily care into fear.

Market Landscape

Where No Pressure Fit

  • Hospitals already have bulky, expensive devices. Patients at home do not.
  • Pressure ulcers are 6× more likely to start at home than in hospitals.
  • A critical gap in early detection and prevention that primarily affects individuals at home.

No Pressure offers sensor-driven prevention tailored for home settings, where traditional hospital tools are inaccessible or unsuitable.
